A luxurious Lexus blazer dressed up in bright yellow

Sacramento, California – I swear to you: I think I HEARD the tested 2020 Lexus GS F sedan approaching when it was still a mile away from my driveway.

Sure, it might have been the rumble of the 467-horsepower, 5-liter V-8 engine.  Or, call me crazy, I actually believe it was the brighter-than-the-sun "Flare Yellow" paint job calling out to me from a distance.

Either way, this vehicle was a major attention-getter.

Arguably, the GS F sedan is the most remarkable car in the Lexus fleet, which is saying something.

Let's start with the look. The super-yellow paint job was just icing on a special cake. Spectacular, sporty sculpting and sharp-angled  cuts on the sides are a treat for the eyes.  On the back end, the slightly chopped lines fall gracefully under the carbon fiber spoiler, and extend to quad exhausts on the bottom.

On the tester, all of that rode on 19-inch matte black forged alloy wheels. Inside, luxury abounds. The tester was loaded up with leather all around, a color head-up display, illuminated door sills, a premium Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system (17 speakers), a power moonroof and a 12.3-inch navigation screen.

Triggering the ignition produces a deep, satisfying exhaust note guaranteed to draw the stares of anyone within 100 yards.  The 4,034 -pound GS F was surprisingly agile and responsive on surface streets, but it's made to be driven on the open road.

With a clear path ahead, punching the accelerator transports you to another place, where surrounding motor vehicles seem frozen in time. The V-8 engine dishes up power in a buttery, seemingly effortless way.

You get to the point where you wonder how much is left to give, and you're startled to realize you've just blown past 80 miles per hour.

Handle with care?  Absolutely.  The excellent engineering on this GS F demands that you pay attention, lest you find flashing red and blue lights following your speeding machine.

Coming to a stop is no problem, courtesy of Brembo ventilated disc brakes with high-friction pads.

You might think that all this costs a fair amount of money.  And you'd be right.  The bottom line on the tester was $90,395.

That is well out of range of many budgets, but for those who can afford the fare, this 2020 Lexus GS F sedan is a worthy investment that will deliver many hours of driving pleasure.
