Sacramento auto museum's docent course kicks off

Sacramento, California -- The California Automobile Museum at 2200 Front St., in Sacramento is accepting applications for its exceptional Docent Training program, which kicks off its 2022 edition on Jan. 19.

The course includes 20 sessions, on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Course materials/lectures cover  a wide range of automobile history, with “hands-on” docenting sessions on the museum floor, a Model T “Drive” and trips to other car museums.

The fee for student docents is $99 and includes a one-year membership in the museum, museum privileges and all course materials.   
 
Registration forms can be found online at www.calautomuseum.org/volunteer.   A copy of the application also is available at the museum’s front desk from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Monday.

The long-standing CAM Docent Training program is considered a model for auto museums nationwide.  Over the years, scores of docents have provided thousands of hours of free, expert talks and tours at the local museum.
